AKC TARGETING NON AKC SHOW BREEDERS WHO HAVE REQUESTED THEIR DOGS BE REMOVED? THE AKC IS LIKE THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA - quote "YOU CAN CHECK OUT ANY TIME YOU WANT BUT YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE" unquote

A friend of mine has been "targeted" by the AKC. AKC began "harassing" them to "sign off" on a litter despite the fact they haven't registered a dog or litter with AKC for over three years. What gives the AKC the right to do this? My friend had already requested t that all their dogs removed from the AKC registry before being threatened. Despite the request the the AKC has been threatening them with audits and fines. Why? Because they refused to sign off on a litter registration they knew nothing about? They never knew a litter was registered to "their" dog until they were told by someone that one had been registered to their male. All this AFTER the litter was registered without their signature. Why would the AKC target them and threaten them? Is it because they registered a litter to their male without their knowledge or signature? Think about it before registering your dogs with AKC. How can AKC threaten and fine someone who has asked to be removed and hadn't registered anything with them prior to the targeting for over two years?

As an owner when you register your dog with AKC; I believe you are putting them at risk to be stolen. Based on my experiences, AKC DOES determine ownership of dogs even though they say they do not. A dog was transferred by an owner to a person in order for them to get the dog. The owner was concerned for the welfare of his dog since the person who had the dog was not responding to his emails or phone calls. AKC refused to honor the owner of records wishes in the matter which stopped the process. The dog wound up dying. How? Why? I believe the AKC should be held accountable for it's actions and it has never responded to any questions surrounding it's refusal to transfer a dog based on the rightful owner's signature. Why does the AKC refuse to respond? Who knows but it has made me believe that the AKC does not have any interest in the welfare of dogs and only cares about money from registrations and show. I will never register another dog because of what I have seen the AKC do. This tells me that you are basically signing your rights away as the owner of your dog when you register them with AKC. Why whould anybody want to pay for this liability?

On another occasion, AKC targeted a breeder because they were boycotting the organization. They suspended the breeder and then registered a puppy somebody bought from him; even though they themselves had suspended the breeder. The person who bought the puppy was told by the breeder that was not to be registered with the AKC. The person then registered the puppy with the UKC in order to bring it's registration back into the AKC. How can the AKC register a puppy from a breeder who they themselves have suspended. When asked, the puppy buyer said they threatened the AKC with a lawsuit. I just can't support what in my opinion is such a R.I.C.O. organization. That is just the way I feel about the AKC. They have shown me that they will not respect me as an owner or enforce their own rules. I think they are only about the money.

Some AKC breeders often times claim they will not allow their dogs to be placed in shelters and they will take them back. I would ask them to speak to the former owner. Ask them where the dog is now. Ask to speak with it's new owner or could they have put the dog down because they did not want to have a reputation of having their dogs go to shelters? Personally, I would rather see a dog in a no-kill shelter with the possibility of them being placed in a good home than possibly put down by somebody trying to make a name for themselves. Believe it or not? Two dogs that I had in my possession went to breeder homes and one died at 3.5 years old and another died at 4 years old. My friend's dog went to a home and died in less than a year.

BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH AKC SHOW BREEDERS AND JUDGES I HAVE COME TO MY OWN PERSONAL CONCLUSION THAT I DO NOT TRUST ANY OF THEM. IF I COULD GIVE ADVICE BASED ON MY EXPERIENCES; I WOULD SAY TO STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. BY HAVING AKC BEHIND THEM, I Think IT GIVES PEOPLE A FALSE SENSE OF SERCURITY. REMEMBER; FOLLOW THE MONEY. MONEY IN MY OPINION DRIVES PEOPLE TO DO THIINGS THAT PERHAPS THEY SHOULD NOT. I SINCERELY BELIEVE WITH ALL MY HEART BASED ON MY EXPERIENCES IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. IT WOULD TAKE A LOT TO GET ME TO BELIEVE ANY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THEM.

AKC communicated to me that they would register a FULL BROTHER AND SISTER BREEDING!. This is in sharp contrast to the high standards set by our European counterpart; the FCI. They actually require that breeding pairs pass health tests before they can be bred or registered. Again, based on what I have experienced with the AKC and their show people, I am very skeptical of the accuracy of their registry. If you disagree with them; they will come after you . My best advice is to register with a competent organization like the UKC, who actually verifies owner signatures when dealing with registrations. It also requires that OWNERS MUST SHOW THEIR OWN DOGS! Wow do you think the playing field might be level here? Think about it. Do you really think you are going to win against an AKC registered 100.00 per show handler? I think not. I will be supporting foreign registries and UKC dogs in the future, until AKC stops their mob mentality of going after people who are actually interested in the health and welfare of the dogs and the breeds they love. It is time to stop supporting these type of organizations. After all, getting an AKC registered dog means nothing to me in both health or show confirmation. With enough money I think you can champion a dog in AKC; regardless of their health or confirmation If you have enough money and "clout" there are no limits. On another occasion a dog was transferred by it's owner to somebody close to where the dog was located. AKC refused to transfer the dog even though it was communicated to them that the person was worried for the welfare of the dog. The person the dog was supposed to be transferred to had made arrangements with a local rescue to take the dog; but AKC refused, saying it did not "determine ownership"?. This was false because they WERE determining ownership based on possession and not with the welfare of the dog in mind. Needless to say, it has been reported that the dog is no longer alive. Of course, AKC will not verify this, nor does it care in my opinion based on it's actions. Where is the "investigation" and audits when you need them?

FOLLOW THE MONEY! AKC HANDLERS - EACH HANDLER PAYS A $250.00 TO BE REGISTERED ACCORDING TO THEIR WEBSITE: http://www.akc.org/handlers/links.cfm IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THAT AKC REGISTERED DOGS HANDLED BY REGISTERED AKC HANDLERS WILL MOST LIKELY WIN EVERYTIME. Here is an example of what AKC handlers may charge:

Best in Show………….……$450
Reserve Best In Show.........$270
Best In Show National…….$470
Best in Specialty…………..$250
Group I.……...………………$95
Group II……....………………$90
Group III………....……………$80
Group IV………...……………$75

HOW LONG DO YOU THINK AKC REGISTERED HANDLERS WILL CONTINUE TO PAY THE AKC FEE IF THEY DO NOT WIN? I HAVE PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER AND FOLLOWED THE MONEY TRAIL. REGISTRATIONS, ENTRY FEES, AKC "SO-CALLED" BREEDERS OF MERIT, AND FINALLY THE AKC HANDLERS. WHEN YOU HAVE A REGSITRY WHO WILL REGISTER ANYTHING, REGARDLESS OF HEALTH AND OWNER'S SIGNATURE IT CAN ONLY MEAN ONE THING IN MY EYES. ANYBODY CAN WIN WITH THE RIGHT AKC HANDLER, AND ANYBODY CAN REGISTER ANYTHING WITHOUT REGARD FOR HEALTH OR OWNER'S PERMISSION. BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND WATCHING THE DOGS "WINNING" IN THE RING; I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THERE ARE FAR SUPERIOR DOGS THAT NOBODY HAS SEEN BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WISH TO THROW THEIR MONEY AT AN ORGINIZATION WHO WILL NOT PROTECT THEM OR THEIR DOGS.

Based on what I have seen AKC promotes "puppy mills" and even gives them the "breeder of merit" status. It is all about the registration and show dollars and with so much money being exchanged the dogs are the last step on the ladder. Politics and money. I recommend supporting registries like the UKC and FCI. I have found them to be ethical unlike what I have experienced with the AKC. AKC treats those who disagree with them like any mob member does with people who do not go along with them. A great non show breeder who has been around for years has just been targeted by the AKC because they stopped registering their dogs with AKC several years ago. The AKC threatened the breeder with audits and fines which they had no jurisdiction over. If this isn't racketeering; I do not know what is. In an other industry, the AKC would face penalties and fine for this type of action. Perhaps that is why members and show entries are declining with AKC.

Winning in the AKC show ring isn't about the merit or quality of the dog based on what I have seen. It is very subjective. It's not like soccer or baseball where a win is defined on performance. It is based solely on the judge's subjective opinion which can be influenced by all the ourside factors and money trail I have described above. I have found most of the show scene to be filled with nasty, catty, and vindictive people. I think it is a big waste of time and money and has no real value when seeking out a puppy .

WHY DOG SHOW ENTRIES DECLINE
AND CLUBS SUFFER - "VENDORS"

To sum it up IN MY OPINION BASED ON MY DIRECT EXPERIENCES;
AKC showing is not about structure; it's all aboutthe money, politics, power, and I think it is a huge waste of time and money!
